Why President Kanye West 2024 Makes Sense

We are coming up on another pivotal election, and possibly I dare say a rematch between Joe Biden and Donald Trump.  This may be the opening needed for 3rd party candidates to break through the 2 party system.  One of those 3rd party candidates could be Kanye West 2024.

Why Kanye West 2024?

He Has the Funding: Kanye West has the money to do it.  Kanye is worth somewhere between $1 billion and $7 billion.  He could self finance a decent operation, but likely would not need to. Trump spent $322 million on his 2016 campaign, with $66 million being his own money.  Kanye can afford to do this.  Similar to Donald Trump, Kanye has a dedicated fan base that he could use to raise the funds needed for a campaign. Like other candidates Kanye can write a book or drop another album that is exclusively available to those who donate $X amount of dollars to the campaign.  Or special limited edition Yeezy merchandise.  Kanye can absolutely fund a real presidential campaign.

He Understands the Process and Ballot Access: Kanye learned extensively during the 2020 campaign.  He was laughed at and ridiculed for mounting a long shot presidential bid, especially so late in the process.  I strongly believe in taking massive imperfect action. Rather than waiting until 2024 he took action NOW and made something happen.  He learned deeply about presidential marketing, ballot access, and the primary system during his short presidential bid.  He also learned the myriad of backend rules and regulations that exist when mounting a campaign. He now knows how early he needs to start and what actions he needs to take to get ballot access as a 3rd party candidate.  I think Kanye has the resources and ability to gain ballot access in all 50 states.

Adding up all the signature requirements it takes a bit over 750,000 total signatures to get on the ballot in all 50 states.  Adding in a 25% margin of error we are looking at 1 million signatures needed. At an average cost of $10 per signature (accounting for infrastructure, paid signature gathering, and administrative costs) then it will cost roughly $10 million for Kanye (or anyone who isn’t a Republican or Democrat nominee with free ballot access) to get on the ballot in all 50 states. This is doable. Kanye will gain ballot access in all 50 states, using the same cumbersome and protectionist process that the Reform party and the Libertarian party have gone through.

So now we have a deep understanding of the process, the funds available to make it happen, and the time needed to mount a campaign.

He Has The Ambition:

Kanye West is relentlessly ambitious.

“watch him
He gon’ make it to a Benz out of that Datsun
He got that ambition, baby, look at his eyes
This week he moppin’ floors, next week it’s the fries
So stick by his side”

5 years ago Kanye West was broke. Worse than broke he had a negative net worth. Today he is a billionaire.  Do you have any idea the drive it takes to go from nothing to Billionaire in under a decade? Running for President is a marathon. It’s 16 hour days for 18 months…just during the pre-race.  Then for the final 3 month stretch it’s a 24 hour slog. You need a motivation that is so abnormally high to dedicate the life energy needed to a run for President.

He Shed Kim Kardashian: I have no doubts that Kanye loved Kim, but she was not the right partner to launch him to the White House.  She was against his run for President.  You can not win the Presidency of the United States with a reluctant partner.  The job is too demanding and the public scrutiny is too much to handle.  Kim Kardashian has arguably one of the most public lives in all of human history, but she was not willing to take this journey.  Without Kim Kanye has a better chance.

Kanye West Has A Positive Outlook:

Listen to how he talks:

I refuse to follow the rules where society tries to control people with low self esteem.

Would you believe in what you believe in if you were the only one who believe it?

The only luxury is time. The time you get to spend with your family.

Everyone’s always telling you to be humble. When was the last time someone told you to be great?

It’s bigger than me. It’s about while I was here on earth what did I do to help.

It really matters and then like it really doesn’t matter. What matters is the people who are sparked by it. And the people who are like offended by it, it doesn’t matter Because it’s about motivating the doers. Because I’m here to follow my dreams and inspire other people to follow their dreams too.

Everything I’m not makes me everything I am

I know that we are trained to emotionally react to the points that are said to say mm-hmm (affirmative) I agree or mm-hmm (affirmative) I feel that. But today, I want you guys to try, not to try, because trying is failing. What I want you guys to do is show how we can have complete silence until she expresses her point completely. And when she is done and says, We have fully expressed ourselves because I don’t love the word, I.

Everybody wants to know what I would do if I didn’t win…..I guess we’ll never know!

Kanye West’s 2024 Platform:

First and foremost Kanye doesn’t have the hatred of half the country.  If he is competing against Joe Biden and Donald Trump he has a major advantage.  Sure some people don’t like Kanye. They think he’s obnoxious. They think he’s mentally unstable.  They think he’s a loose cannon.  But they don’t despise him.  There are millions of people that can’t stand Biden or Trump.

Kanye has platform ideas that can appeal to both Republicans and Democrats:

  • Restore prayer in public schools.
  • Restructure education system to serve more people and lead to vocational paths, job opportunities and career success.
  • Maintain a strong national defense and avoid foreign quagmires that do not advance our nations interest.
  • Reform the legal system, including disparities in verdicts and prison sentences caused by lack of resources or legal assistance.
  • Reform policing and eliminate federal sentencing guidelines.
  • Take care of the environment.
  • Ensure we place Americas best interest first when dealing with foreign affairs.  Project strength, not aggression, and support fair trade, not one sided deals that hurt American workers.

There are points here that are largely bipartisan and points that appeal to traditional Democrats and some that appeal to traditional Republicans.

Kanye West 2024’s Path To The White House:

For this exercise we are assuming that Donald Trump and Joe Biden are the nominees in 2024.  The Republican party is split and a good chunk Republicans are sick of Trumpism.  They are pissed that he clenched defeat from the jaws of victory and allowed Joe Biden to win in 2024. The Democrats on the other hand foolishly coalesced around Joe Biden rather than running their 2020 primary out.  This put all their trust in a career politician who has been on the wrong side of history for half a century.  He was against bussing  for desegregation in the 70s because he didn’t want his kids growing up in a “racial jungle”.  He wrote the 1994 crime bill that created mass incarceration. Mandatory minimums were the Joe Biden solution. He orchestrated imprisoning a generation of black men.  He voted for the war in Iraq.

On a personal note, he appears to be suffering from Alzheimer’s.  Do you really think he can serve as America’s President for 6 more years? (And Donald Trump isn’t getting any younger either.) Joe Biden will be 81 in 2024 and Donald Trump will be 77.  An energetic 46 year old Kanye West will be a stark contrast.

Kanye West’s celebrity sets him apart from virtually every 3rd party bid that has occurred in modern history. The Libertarian party was ecstatic to get the name power of former New Mexico Governor Gary Johnson to run on the Libertarian ticket in 2016 and Gary Johnson not only lacks the celebrity of Kanye West, he also did not have the self promotion of Kanye.  Kanye, like Trump, is a great self promoter. He is not shy of the camera. Kanye can and will get himself in front of every camera that will listen.  He needs to follow the Trump 2016 playbook and suck the oxygen out of the room.

  • If Kanye mounts a serious campaign with serious funding he will be able to get on the ballot in all 50 states.
  • If Kanye stays in front of the camera, with his name recognition, he will be included in the polls that determine the ability to be in the presidential debates. If he can get up to 15% in the polls he will be on the debate stage.
  • If the Democrats run Joe Biden and the Republicans run Donald Trump, and a 46 year old Kanye can debate these geriatrics, he has a real shot.

Option 1: Winning Outright:

With a 3 way race, rather than needing to win 50.1% of the votes, you can win a state with 33.4% of the votes.  Kanye makes his case and by and large 34%+ of America believes that Kanye is the best option for our country.  Kanye wins enough states to get to 270 delegates in the electoral college and becomes President.  They laughed at the idea of Donald Trump becoming president, so it is possible for Kanye to do it as well. The people are tired of the 2 party system and both Republicans and Democrats have failed America.  The message is loud and clear.

Option 2: Appointed by the Senate:

American Presidential politics is fairly boring, until there are at least 3 people who are winning electors.  To win the presidency you need 50% + 1 of the electoral college votes.  If no person gets 270 votes, then the House of Representatives determines the President. This means 270 votes, although a 269-269 vote is possible it has never happened.  If it’s a 3 way race this is more likely, and Kanye could conceivably win a single state and cause this to occur.

Let’s say Kanye wins Wyoming as a favorite son.  It’s possible that 100,000 votes in Wyoming will win it and Kanye would have 3 electors.  The rest of the country is almost a draw and finished 268 – 267 – 3.

The House of Representatives then votes for the President, but they vote as state delegations with each state receiving a single vote, so California has an equal vote as Wyoming.  Assuming the Republicans control the majority of state delegations, then they would appoint Donald Trump; the Republican nominee to the White house….But wait, there’s more.

The Senate then appoints the Vice President from the top 3 Vice Presidential candidates.  Let’s say that the Senate is split 50 – 50 and the sitting Vice President is the tie breaking vote.  The Democrats certainly won’t give the Republicans an inch. They will not give Trump his VP.  Kamala Harris also has no interest in serving under Donald Trump,  and he wouldn’t like this very much either. She refuses to vote for herself.  The compromise?  Kanye West’s VP.

BUT… IF Kanye banked on this outcome, rather than running for President he creates a political party and runs for Vice President with someone else as the Presidential nominee.  Ideally someone who doesn’t over shadow his celebrity and that is not hated by half the country.  The Senate then appoints Kanye West as Trump’s VP.  The Republicans can tolerate it because it’s better than having Kamala, and the Democrats can tolerate it because they think he will drive Trump crazy and add to the dumpster fire they anticipate.

Kanye West is now the Vice President to one of the oldest Presidents in history.  If the President dies he’s the man.  Trump is a man who LOVES delegation.  He famously offered Ohio Governor John Kasich the chance to be the most powerful VP in history, stating that he would be in charge of domestic and foreign policy.  Kanye would as Trump’s VP have the chance to be in charge of anything he wants to be.  He could effect real change.  The Republicans would likely give him the nomination to continue the government they have in place in 2028, or he could run on his own platform.

Kanye West 2024 has a chance. What do you think about Kanye 2024?
