Auto Save Walmart

It’s so much hassle to physically bring in ads from other stores to a cashier to get items price matched when grocery shopping.  Walmart is streamlining the process with its new Savings Catcher Tool, which will allow for consumers to easily save money on commonly purchased items.  After you have completed your shopping trip, go to their website and enter the receipt number.  The program will compare all your prices to competitors and credit you the difference if any are lower.

Currently the program is in a Beta version and only available in a few markets: Atlanta GA, Charlotte NC, Dallas TX, Huntsville AL, Lexington KY, Minneapolis MN, and San Diego, CA. With any luck they will rapidly expand this program to other markets.  Walmart is working with 3rd party services to catalog and update ads from competitors to make this program a success.

This program should be a major win for both Walmart and consumers. It guarantees that shoppers will actually receive the lower price and it takes away the hassle for consumers.  For Walmart it gives more time back to associates by having to do fewer physical price matches, and it ensures more consumers will shop at Walmart, both of which will ultimately result in better services and lower proces down the line. While price matching with physical ads in hand may make sense for large purchases, it is an amazing burden for small dollar items. This system should eliminate the burden. This is another tool to help with increasing the delta in your household budget.
